Late fitness tests for city's rugger pair

BACK PROBLEM: skipper Chris Hinkins
BACK PROBLEM: skipper Chris Hinkins

FLANKER Tim Aistrope hopes to return to the Canterbury Rugby Club squad for the visit of Bridgewater & Albion to Merton Lane in National League 3 South on Saturday (kick-off 2.30pm).

The Australian has been sidelined with a foot injury, but will have a fitness test before the match, along with skipper Chris Hinkins, who has a back problem.

Another flanker, Mark Cullen, will be in contention for a place after an impressive performance against Ealing in last weekend’s EDF National Trophy victory, which earned a home tie against St Ives in the second round on November 18.

Victory over Saturday’s Somerset visitors would see Canterbury leapfrog them in the table.
