Kent name new president for next year

KENT have named Crown Court judge Peter Morgan as president in 2008

A member for more than 50 years, Mr Morgan (65) is vice-chairman and partner at Canterbury-based solicitors Girlings, the county’s legal advisers.

He said: "I am honoured to have been asked, and excited about the team’s prospects.

"I was most impressed by the talent and character in the squad this year, and they have the potential to do even better."

He succeeds George Kennedy, and his appointment will be confirmed at the annual meeting in Ashford on March 10.

Mr Morgan serves as one of Her Majesty’s Recorders, the only solicitor in East Kent to do so, and his hobbies include tennis and jazz.
