Whitstable Town manager Will Graham will find out this weekend if Scott Heard is joining Maidstone United

Whitstable Town manager Will Graham will find out this weekend whether midfielder Scott Heard is joining Maidstone United.

Heard plays against Dagenham & Redbridge on Saturday, with Stones boss Jay Saunders due to make a decision after the game.

Graham said: “We let Scott go on trial as a kind gesture to him, even though he is still on contract, because we know he wants to progress.

“He has got one-year left, so a fee will have to be agreed. Speaking selfishly I want him to stay.”

Town have signed goalkeeper Adam Highsted who played under Town assistant Simon Halsey at Ramsgate, Fisher and Lordswood, and will compete with youngster Ben Kitcherside who has joined from Herne Bay.

Former Ramsgate player Tom Tsangarides, out of the game for a couple of years, is training at Belmont.

A deal for Peter Wedgeworth to return has fallen through due to the player’s work commitments.

Town begin their seven-game build-up at home to Ryman League Division 1 North Thamesmead Town on Saturday (3pm), followed by a trip to newly promoted Hollands & Blair on Tuesday (7.45pm).
