Whitstable Town boss Nicky Southall insists his players won’t go through the motions in the final weeks of the season, despite claiming they need just three points to guarantee their survival.

Easter Monday’s 1-1 draw at Herne Bay made it four points in three days, in Ryman League, Division 1 South, following the 2-1 win over Folkestone Invicta at the Belmont on Saturday.

Town will visit Burgess Hill on Saturday seeking to put more ground between themselves and the foot of the table.

The Oystermen are six points ahead of the bottom two but both have a game in hand, with the bottom eight teams separated by just two wins.

Southall (pictured) said: "One more win should see us home. Monday was another point on the board and we’re at 40 points now. Hopefully, we can get that win."

Southall said despite the season being in its latter stages, there was no excuse for players to go through the motions in the final four games.

He said: "It shouldn’t be an issue. Players should be up for every game. When I played, I used to be, every time I crossed that white line, whoever it’s against, you’ve got to get up for it."

James Morrish is a doubt for Saturday after coming off on Monday with an arm injury which was due to be X-rayed this week, otherwise Southall should have a full-fit squad.

Meanwhile, Dover’s Tom Axford will remain with the Oystermen until the end of the season.
