More marches in support of the Black Lives Matter movement are planned in Kent this weekend.

The protests are set to take place in Canterbury and Thanet to raise awareness of racial discrimination.

The event in Canterbury starts at midday today (Saturday) and organisers say social distancing is essential.

Those attending have been asked to wear masks, stay two metres apart and to march in groups of six.

It will begin at Westgate Gardens, moving through the town to Canterbury Cathedral, then Dane John Gardens and finally to Canterbury Police Station.

The Bishop of Dover will be in attendance to show support to the cause.

Following a march going from Cliftonville to Margate last weekend, People Dem Collective have organised another one today at midday.

Campaigners will walk from Ramsgate Bandstand to Broadstairs Bandstand.

People have been told to wear face masks and to respect social distancing guidelines.

There is a "no alcohol and drugs" policy - and people have been advised to "remain calm, collected and respectful of others".

When they arrive in Broadstairs, they will kneel for exactly eight minutes 46 seconds in silence.

This is amount of time police officer Derek Chauvin had his knee on George Floyd's neck before he died - which triggered global protests.
