Viyella latest recession victim

Women's clothes store Viyella, which has a shop in Burgate, Canterbury, has become the latest victim of the recession.

The company, which was founded in 1784, has called in the administrators.

Viyella operates 40 stores, 64 concessions and four clearance outlets and employs about 450 people.

The company said it believed there would be strong interest in buying the business.
