The vehicle was pursued by police, and was eventually brought to a dramatic halt in Vauxhall Road, Canterbury.

Three people - two men and a woman - were taken into custody for driving and drug offences.

Today, police have confirmed 19-year-old Charlie Kelly has since been charged with dangerous driving, driving without insurance, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and possession of cannabis.

Mr Kelly, of Kemsing Gardens in Canterbury, is also charged with receiving a stolen scooter on July 20.

He appeared before Folkestone Magistrates' Court on Friday and was bailed to appear before Canterbury Crown Court on a date that is yet to be arranged.

A 22-year-old man and an 19-year-old woman who were arrested as part of the investigation have both been released without charge.
