Fire destroys rubbish, mattresses, carpets and tyres a outbuilding in Chartham

A huge fire in an open-sided outbuilding destroyed 10 tonnes of rubbish, mattresses and carpets.

Firefighters were called to the site in Cockering Road, Chartham, at around 4.20pm last night after a building measuring around 32ft by 32ft caught light.

The fire had already taken hold when crews arrived. They used breathing apparatus and jets to put out the flames.
