A teenage girl stabbed multiple times in Hersden suffered her injuries after armed police entered a home, it has emerged.

Mr Traylor, 40, is still recovering from his injuries.

It emerged for the first time this week that she was stabbed after officers entered the house.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission is investigating as a matter of routine because a police weapon was discharged.

IPCC spokesman Neil Coyte said: “At approximately 11.20pm on Sunday, February 8, Kent Police responded to reports of an incident in a Hersden property involving a 40-year-old man and a 16-year-old girl, and at approximately 1am the man was shot and the girl suffered a number of stab wounds. Shortly after the man was shot he started receiving treatment from paramedics.

“As part of our investigation we have been liaising with medical staff and await an official report from them regarding the injuries the man suffered.”

A neighbour claimed it was up to two hours before Mr Traylor received medical treatment, but the Gazette has learned that he was seen by paramedics immediately after he was hit.

Asked how many times Mr Traylor was shot, Mr Coyte said: “Although we have preliminary information, we await the final medical report and will not be releasing unconfirmed information.”

Kent Police is referring all questions relating to the case to the IPCC, which is due to produce a report later in the year.

It is not believed Mr Traylor, who went to the Beauherne and Chaucer schools in Canterbury, has been arrested.
