THE death of a first year student at a university in a Kent city is not being treated as suspicious.

Police were called to the 18-year-old’s room in an accommodation block on the main North Holmes Road campus at Canterbury's Christ Church University yesterday morning.

The cause is not yet known but police are not treating the death as suspicious. A post mortem is due to be carried out today.

Floral tributes to the student, who is not from Kent, were left outside the block.

Vice-chancellor Prof Michael Wright said: "Our deepest condolences go to the student’s family and friends and our thoughts are most obviously with them."
