Firefighters tackle derelict building blaze

FIREFIGHTERS were called to deal with a fire at a derelict building in the county on Saturday morning.

The blaze broke out in the former National Tyre Service building in St Dunstan's Street, Canterbury.

The building has been derelict for a number of years but it is known to be used as a squat.

When the crew arrived at 8am there was no one inside but waste, including a pile of car shock absorbers, were still alight.

The inside was heavily smoke logged but there was no significant damage to the structure of the building.
