Faversham Town boss Ray Turner heaped praise on his players after Tuesday’s 3-2 Ryman League, Division 1 South win at local rivals Whitstable.

Five goals and two sending-offs capped an eventful evening at Belmont, as Town came from 2-0 down to claim the points against the Oystermen and former boss Justin Luchford.

Turner (pictured) said: "It was a remarkable game of football and the victory was a
deserved reward for the players."

Maxted’s debut was delayed by a ban following his move from Herne Bay and he now faces another enforced lay-off but Turner had some sympathy for him. He said: "The ball was there to be won and it was a committed tackle.

"He was slightly off his feet but it happened right in front of the Whitstable bench which probably didn’t help his cause. It was his first card since arriving

The Lillywhites boss now wants to build on the win, starting against Horham at home on Saturday.

He said: "The cups are now out of the way and we want another three points on the back of the Whitstable result to help push ourselves up the table."
