Faversham Town boss Ray Turner has warned his players to beware an onslaught from Ryman League Division 1 South basement boys Whyteleafe on Saturday.

Town travel to Surrey on the back of a 2-1 defeat to title-chasing Whitehawk at the Shepherd Neame Stadium last Saturday, while Whyteleafe won 1-0 at promotion-hunting Folkestone.

Whitehawk’s James Fraser bundled in the opener from a Jerahl Hughes cross five minutes before the break and 10 minutes after the interval Dan Ellis kept out three quick attempts only for Sam Fisk to ram in the rebound.

With nothing to lose the Lilywhites poured forward and Justin Ascheri saw a shot saved before Whitehawk keeper Chris Winterton conceded a penalty which Dave Botterill despatched 25 minutes from time.

Turner said: "We had a lot of pressure at the end and I think it panicked them a bit. I’m not saying we deserved to get anything, but when we went 2-0 down we relaxed and started to play, and that bodes well."

Looking ahead to Saturday, he added: "Whyteleafe are going to come at us, it’s going to be a cup final for them. We’ve got to be prepared for it."

Danny Hockton (calf) is set to miss out but Sam Robinson and keeper Rob French could return.

Turner wants Town to try and reel in 10th-placed Hythe Town who are 11 points ahead with just six games remaining.

He said: "The pressure is off as we’re not going down, but it’s my job to make sure we don’t sit back. We have a pretty decent run-in. I’d like us to finish strongly, our goal is to make the top-10, which I know is a way off."
