'Drunken behaviour' on cathedral roof

A MAN has been charged with drunk and disorderly behaviour after climbing onto the roof of Canterbury Cathedral.

Joseph Bishop-Ford, 25, of Hengoed, Mid Glamorgan, scaled scaffolding around the building on Sunday afternoon at about 3.30pm.

He has been bailed to appear before Canterbury magistrates on September 11.

Police officers cleared visitors out of the grounds and found the man sitting 100ft above ground. With the help of fire service teams with ladders, they managed to bring him down by 4.20pm.
