Canterbury: Bomb squad called to Sturry after shell found

Bomb disposal experts had to be called in after a dog walker reportedly came across an unexploded Second World War shell.

Residents say police were initially called to investigate the find in a field in Sturry, near Canterbury, at around 4.30pm.

A bomb disposal unit later arrived and a controlled controlled explosion was carried out.

It happened just off Herne Bay Road near its junction with Popes Lane.
