Kent-born cyclist Jamie Staff has helped claim Great Britain's third gold medal of the Beijing Olympics.

The 35-year-old, who was born in Brabourne and went to the North School, Ashford, was part of the three-man sprint team that edged out France on Friday lunchtime.

Fellow riders Chris Hoy and Jason Kenny brought home the gold medal in a winning time of 43.121 secs.

Staff, who now spends most of his time based in Stockport and California, was also part of the team who were edged out to silver by France in this year's World Championships in Manchester.
