Woman assaulted after Venetian fete

Police have appealed for information after an 18-year-old woman was assaulted following Hythe’s Venetian Fete.

The woman had been to the fete on Wednesday evening and at 12.30am on Thursday was alone in Waitrose car park.

A group of young men approached her and one verbally abused her and then assaulted her. She suffered a chipped tooth, bruising and swelling to her eye, jaw and head.

Two passers-by came to the aid of the woman, who was wearing jeans and a checked shirt.
