You may not have heard of them yet but the IB Sisters reckon they can give singer Alicia Keys a run for her money.

They have recorded their own version of her hit Empire State of Mind, changing the words to represent their home town of Folkestone.

Friends Kay McLoughlin and Lynn Barrett-Smith, who are both mothers of two, have posted Folkestone State of Mind on their You Tube page - and already peope are downloading it as their mobile ring tone.

“We did it as a bit of fun,†said Kay, 42. "I said Alicia could not sing very well and we could do better, so we did."

Her husband Dave may beg to differ - "He doesn't want anything to do with this" - but he is unlikely to be surprised by Kay's antics.

As fans of kmfm breakfast show host Adam Dowling the IB Sisters have recorded a jingle and two songs for him and were also instrumental in a campaign to get Primark to come to Folkestone when Woolworths closed.

Lynn, 38, whose husband Keith is more supportive of her singing, said: "We have not had any negative comments about this at all. People are laughing with us, not at us."
