Faversham Road in Kennington, Ashford, blocked after pupil hit by van outside Towers School

A boy has been taken to hospital with head and arm injuries after being hit by a van outside a secondary school.

Traffic was diverted in Faversham Road, Kennington, following the incident outside Towers School at about 8am.

Teachers helped direct traffic at the junction of Ulley Road, next to The Rose Inn.

An ambulance service spokesman said the boy was assessed and treated at the scene before being taken to the William Harvey Hospital for further treatment.

Bus operator Stagecoach said its B route was unable to serve Trinity Road or Hurst Road while emergency services dealt with the incident.

Its buses were forced to turn left into Broadhurst Drive and then onto Towers View.

Emergency services were called at 7.50am and left the scene an hour later.
