Four police vehicles attend Lidl in New Street, Ashford

An incident at a town centre Lidl has sparked a large police response.

Three police cars and a van were parked at the entrance to the supermarket in New Street, Ashford, shortly after 11.40am.

At least eight officers were at the scene.

A spokeswoman for the force said: “Kent Police was called to a report of a woman damaging cars near Gilbert Road in Ashford town centre, shortly before 11am on Wednesday (May 15).

“Officers attended and the woman was located and arrested.

“She has been taken into custody while enquiries to establish the full circumstances continue.”

Nobody is believed to have been injured during the incident.
