Garage owner did 74mph in 30mph zone

A 30-year-old garage owner told a court how frustrating it was not to be able to drive his Japanese car at the high speeds it can reach.

Zeca Bridges, of Allen Field, Ashford, admitted at Ashford Magistrates Court driving his Toyota Supra at 74mph in a 30mph zone.

Bridges, who runs a garage in Bridge Road Industrial Centre on the Cobbs Wood estate at Ashford, said he had to cross three lanes as someone would not let him pass.

“It was an overtaking manoeuvre,” he said.

Bridges said his car could reach 93mph in first gear.

He said: “It is very frustrating to drive these on the road and not be able to experience their full potential and motorcycles do pick on vehicles like my own.”

Bridges was disqualified for 56 days and will pay a £130 fine and costs of £43.
