A large cloud of black smoke billowed into the sky in Folkestone Harbour this afternoon.

Firefighters were called at around 3.15pm after reports from concerned members of the public.

Crews in two fire engines found a large skip full of burning wood by the old Folkestone Harbour railway station.

The bonfire, started by workmen on the site, was under control but fire crews helped them extinguish the blaze using a hose reel.
