Kent Police investigating after Kent Fire and Rescue Service tackled suspicious blaze of a stolen truck in Shadoxhurst, Ashford,

Police are investigating a suspicious truck fire in the early hours of this morning.

Officers confirmed the vehicle, which was found ablaze in Church Lane in Shadoxhurst, was stolen.

Fire crews arrived at the scene at 1am last night after receiving a phonecall from a worried neighbour who had been woken up by the flames.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service sent one pump which was at the scene for about half hour but the old Toyota Hilux had been completely destroyed by the blaze.

Firefighter Malc Harmer said: "We sent one pump and were there for about half hour but it was completely burnt out.

"It looked like an old farmers truck that had just been torched."

A spokesman for Kent Police said: "The vehicle was stolen from Spelders Hill, Brook, at some time between 6 pm on Tuesday night and 1 am on Wednesday morning.

"The fire is being treated as suspicious."
