Elderly man injured after travelling on car bonnet

An elderly man was driven down the road on the bonnet of a car, injuring his leg and hand.

A man has been arrested and police are now appealing for help in finding the people who helped the elderly man.

The incident happened in Faversham Road, close to the junction with Canterbury Road, Kennington, Ashford, at about 4pm on Tuesday.

Two cars were involved – a green Vauxhall Astra and a silver Mercedes. The man was driven down the road on the bonnet of the green Astra, in the direction of Faversham, causing injuries.

People living nearby helped the victim by giving him a chair to sit on and providing first aid until an ambulance arrived.

The driver of the Astra, a 44-year-old man from the Maidstone area, was arrested for assault and has been bailed while officers make further inquiries.

Police would like to hear from any of the residents who came to help the elderly man and from anyone else with information.
