Stream in Kennington, Ashford turns bizarre shade of pink

Residents have raised their concerns after a stream turned pink.

Pictures show the bizarre sight of the watercourse which became a shocking shade in Kennington, Ashford.

One photograph was published on a local Facebook page and a member of KentOnline staff also found the incident with a shot from The Pasture.

The mysterious discolouration is on a long stream that runs through a large part of the area.

A resident confirmed to KentOnline they had noticed the strange occurrence in part of the stream which flows through their garden in Lower Vicarage Road.

It has caused a lot of head-scratching over what was caused it as well as amusement.

One Facebook commentator quipped: “Alas someone has killed Mr Blobby,” referring to the garishly pink TV character.

Another remarked: “Does it lead to Willy Wonka land?”

Some wondered whether it was pollution from paint or a form of bacteria.

Others urged that samples should be taken as well as the reporting of the incident,

Residents have already informed the Environment Agency.
