Child suffers deep cut after 'tripping into a broken trolley' in Asda, Ashford

A child suffered a deep cut to his forehead after tripping into a broken trolley, his father claims.

Two broken metal rods were said to have punctured the boy's forehead following the accident at Asda supermarket in Ashford.

The young lad, who has not been named, was taken to hospital where the gash was stitched and glued.

Dad Barry Jenkins said he was horrified after the accident, which left a cut so deep you could "see his skull".

He said: "We were told if the rod had been just an inch lower he would have lost his sight in his left eye or worst case it could have punctured his skull."

Mr Jenkins added that he was extremely disappointed with the response from staff at the Kimberley Way superstore.

He said: "My partner went into the store and asked for help but it seemed nobody could be bothered to help until they found out it had been caused by a trolley.

"This is when the staff and security decided to go and find the trolley.

"I later phoned to speak to the manager to make a complaint but all I received was attitude and a statement from him saying 'oh well take it further then'.

"Asda do not even seem to care about what has happened to my son and we have not received an apology of any sort."
